  1. ArcelorMittal, Luxembourg

Crude steel production: 95.45 million tons in 2016, is the world’s best steel manufacturer, employing 320,000 employees in more than 60 countries, based in Luxembourg. The annual output is over 100 million tons, accounting for about 10% of the world’s total steel production. ArcelorMittal holds a global leading position in the automobile, construction, household appliances, packaging and other fields.

  1. China Baowu Steel Group, China

Crude steel output: 63.81 million tons in 2016. Baowu Steel, established by the both of Baosteel and Wuhan Iron and Steel, there are 228,000 employees, total assets of about 730 billion yuan, and operating income will reach 330 billion yuan. The Group owns three series of products: carbon steel, stainless steel and special steel. The annual output of crude steel will rank first in China and second in the world. Crude steel output: 46.18 million tons in 2016. This is a large-scale steel group formed by the two major steel groups of China, Tangshan Iron Steel Group and Handan Iron and Steel Group. The headquarters of the group is located in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province.

Crude steel output: 46.16 million tons in 2016. Nippon Steel & Sumitomo is a large Japanese steel company, formerly known as Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Industries. To enhance competitiveness in the global market, the two companies merged and changed to current name on October 1, 2012.

Crude steel production: 41.56 million tons in 2016, founded in 1968, it is one of the world’s largest steel manufacturers and one of the top ten consortiums in Korea. Provides more than 26 million tons of steel products to users in more than 60 countries around the world each year.

Crude steel output: 33.25 million tons in 2016, is a key enterprise group in Jiangsu Province, a national large-scale industrial enterprise, and the country’s largest private steel enterprise. The group is headquartered in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province. Shagang Group adheres to the road of innovation and development, continuously optimizes product structure, deepens energy conservation and emission reduction, develops circular economy, and achieves steady development of enterprise development.

Crude steel output: 33.19 million tons in 2016. The headquarters is located in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. The Anshan area is rich in iron ore resources, and the proven iron ore reserves account for about a quarter of the national reserves.

  1. JFE, Japan

Crude steel output: 30.29 million tons in 2016, is one of the world’s largest steel conglomerates. It is also one of the few companies in the world that produces car outer panels. Many technologies represent the highest level in the world steel industry.

  1. Shougang Group, China

Crude steel output in 2016: 26.8 million tons. In 1958, China built the first converter, ending the history of Shougang’s iron-free steel. In 1978, steel output reached 1.79 million tons, making it one of the top ten steel companies in China.

  1. TATA Group, India

Crude steel production: 24.49 million tons in 2016. Tata Steel is a pillar industry company wholly owned by Tata Group. Founded in 1907, it is headquartered in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. With an annual production capacity of 27 million tons, it is the sixth largest steel company in the world.
